Mark Andrew Grant, also known as “Mud,” is a former professional baseball pitcher and currently works as a color commentator for the San Diego Padres [1, 2]. Born on October 24, 1963, in Aurora, Illinois, his career includes being a first-round MLB draft pick and evolving into a well-known broadcaster [1, 2]. Grant was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in 1981 and later played for the Padres from 1987 to 1990 [2, 5]. He also played for the Atlanta Braves, Seattle Mariners, Houston Astros, and Colorado Rockies [2]. In 1997, Mark joined the TV broadcast booth for the Padres [2]. As of January 2025, he continues his broadcasting career with Bally Sports San Diego, partnering with Don Orsillo [1]. Grant actively participates in community events and supports charitable organizations, including those focused on autism awareness [1, 5].
