Before *Star Trek*, Dawson began her career on Broadway in *A Chorus Line*. In the 1980s and early 1990s, she appeared in various television series, including *Nightingales* and *The Round Table*. After her role on *Voyager*, Dawson transitioned to directing, helming episodes of numerous television series, including *Star Trek: Enterprise*, *Crossing Jordan*, *Cold Case*, *Heroes*, *The Closer*, and *The Mentalist*. In 2019, she directed her first feature film, *Breakthrough*. Dawson has also co-authored a science fiction novel trilogy with Daniel Graham, comprising *Entering Tenebrea*, *Tenebrea’s Hope*, and *Tenebrea Rising*. She resides in Los Angeles with her husband, casting director Eric Dawson, and their children.
