Sananda Francesco Maitreya (born Terence Trent Howard on March 15, 1962), initially known as Terence Trent D’Arby, is an American singer-songwriter who rose to prominence with his debut album, ‘Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D’Arby’ in 1987. This album spawned hits like ‘Wishing Well’, ‘Sign Your Name’, and ‘Dance Little Sister’. D’Arby was born in Manhattan, New York and raised in DeLand, Florida. Before his music career, he was a Golden Gloves boxing champion. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany, where he also performed with the band The Touch.
