Maurice Ryan Toby (born November 26, 1976) is an American soul singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor. He gained initial recognition for his role as Ahmal in ‘Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit’ (1993). He is also known as a member of the Grammy Award-nominated R&B trio City High. As a songwriter and producer, Toby has contributed to numerous successful projects, including Usher’s ‘Confessions’ album, where he co-wrote and co-produced tracks. He has also worked with artists such as Mary J. Blige, Justin Bieber and Chris Brown. Toby’s career includes both performing and behind-the-scenes work in the music industry. He has also released solo music, including albums during the COVID-19 pandemic. He was married to Claudette Ortiz, a fellow City High bandmate, and they have two children together. To date, Ryan is apart of more than 60 million albums sold and over 400 million streams.
