During his 14-year career in Major League Baseball (MLB), he played for the Boston Red Sox, Florida/Miami Marlins, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Cleveland Indians. Ramirez established himself as an elite hitter during his prime years, with a career batting average of .289. Ramirez began his professional career after being signed by the Boston Red Sox in 2000. He made his MLB debut with the Red Sox on September 20, 2005, before being traded to the Florida Marlins. He was named the National League Rookie of the Year in 2006. A three-time MLB All-Star (2008-2010), Ramirez led the National League in runs scored in 2008. Over his MLB career, Ramirez earned more than $159.4 million in salary alone. He last played in the league in 2019.
