He is widely recognized for his role as Professor Gary Shepherd on the television series ‘Thirtysomething’ (1987-1991). Horton has also directed and produced numerous television series, including ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘The Shield’ and ‘New Amsterdam’. Horton attended Redwood High School where he was classmates with Robin Williams and later earned a B.A. in Music Composition from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He began his acting career in the late 1970s and transitioned into directing in the 1990s. Peter was married to actress Michelle Pfeiffer from 1981 to 1988, and is currently married to Nicole De Putron since 1995, with whom he has two children. He is also an environmental advocate, serving on the board of the Environmental Media Association. He was also chosen by People magazine as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the world.
